News : September 2000 Paul's Perspective At one time or another, everyone has heard the expression “no pain, no gain.” It’s one of those slogans kids love to wear on their tee shirts when they’re working out, trying to make the varsity team. There’s a lot of truth in it, but after high school it looses a lot of its punch, unless you’re still competing in athletics. You shouldn’t necessarily have to loose sight of working hard to get where you want to go and you shouldn’t think there isn’t any good reason to continue to work hard. I have replaced the old high school slogan with a new one “hard-work equals freedom”. Over and over again, I could give examples of just how true this saying is. Take for example, the student who works hard to graduate at the top the class and then gets to reap the rewards of freedoms in many flavors. One, they get to live in a area they desire. Two, they get to work for a company they chose. Three, the greater salary they will be able to demand will give them freedoms most others won’t get to experience. Compare the contrast, the student who chose not to do so well because it was harder, and then went on to compete with many others for fewer job opportunities with less pay. Bottom line, less freedom. There are so many examples and the truth is, things don’t always pan out the way we would like. However, if I had to bet on a positive outcome, I’d go with the hard worker every time. Who's Who at Fronhofer Tool Heidi deJong is our choice for employee of the quarter. Realistically, she could be employee of the year, year after year, hands down. She’s smart, (graduating salutatorian from high school and then cum laude from college) and hard working. Heidi has never missed a day of work in her four years at Fronhofer Tool other than for vacation or a severe winter storm. Her everyday contribution here encompasses payroll, accounts payable & receivables, job-costing, scheduling, inventory reports, shipping & receiving, research and secretarial work. That however, is just the short list. For customers that work with Heidi the reality of consistently getting prompt answers to their demanding questions has at many times, kept Fronhofer Tool in good graces with our valued customers. Heidi makes working a pleasure for everyone, from the customer to the person loading trucks, and does it effortlessly as if it was the only way things could be done. |
